Enrollment Process

The Enrollment Season for the 2019-20 school year has ended. We are no longer enrolling for the current school year.

Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is now available!

Below is the outline of our enrollment process.  Please note that all Letters of Intent submitted between October 3 and January 28 are treated equally according to our enrollment policies; there is no "first come, first served" in this pre-lottery phase of the enrollment process.

1. Submit a Letter of Intent using our online submission form. The Letter of Intent (click here for English version; click here for Spanish version) serves as a demonstration of your interest to enroll your child at MacLaren; it in no way guarantees your child’s enrollment nor legally binds you to enroll your child. Letters of Intent are only good for the school year in which you are applying. We do not keep a waitlist past September 30 of the current school year. We also do not accept mid-year enrollment.

For families looking to enroll a child in Kindergarten, we have two options to choose from. Both are tuition-free.

  • Half-day Kindergarten
    •  Morning Kindergarten meets from 8:00 a.m. - 11:10 a.m., Monday-Friday.
    • Afternoon Kindergarten meets from 12:00 p.m. - 3:10 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • Full-day Kindergarten meets from 8:00 a.m. - 3:10 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 8:00 a.m - 2:20 p.m., Friday.
2. Attend one Information Night. (This requirement does not apply after March 12, 2020) We hold three Information Nights during the Enrollment season: November 7, 2019, January 16, 2020 and March 12, 2020. All begin at 6:30 p.m. Please choose one to attend. The evening is set up for you (and your child, if they are entering the Upper School) to learn more about what makes MacLaren’s curriculum and culture unique and help you discern if MacLaren is the right educational setting for your child. No RSVP is needed. You do not need to have filled out a Letter of Intent to attend an Information Night. If needed, you can bring younger children to the event, but there will be no activities for that age group. (If you already have a child enrolled at MacLaren, or if you live out-of-state, you do not have to attend an Information Night.)

3. Sign up your child for Diagnostic Testing (7th grade and up only). All students who are looking to transfer into MacLaren in grades 7-12, must take two diagnostic tests – one in math skills and one in literature/composition skills – to assess what grade the student is academically prepared for. Sometimes the outcome of the tests show that a child is not ready for the grade that a parent has requested. If that is the case, we will offer the parent the option of entering that child in the grade below. Please note that students transferring into 9th grade and above must have already completed Algebra I. Testing will begin immediately after the Lottery. More information will be emailed to those families who need to meet this testing requirement. The Director of Enrollment will contact parents with available testing time slots to choose from.

4. Provide proof of Free or Reduced-Price Lunch qualification, if applicable. If your child currently qualifies for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch, please forward to the Enrollment Office a copy of the verification letter you received from your current school district. You can do this during the Letter of Intent submission by uploading the letter directly, faxing a copy using our Secure Student Records fax at (866) 587-2608, or bringing in a hard copy to the Enrollment Office. We give preference in the Lottery for children that qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch. If you have never applied for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch, but believe you might qualify for that benefit, please fill out the Family Economic Survey found on our online Letter of Intent form or fill out a hard copy (click here for English version, or here for Spanish version) and either deliver it to the Enrollment Office or fax it using our Secure Student Records fax line at (866) 587-2608.  We will notify you of our preliminary assessment of your eligibility. All family economic information is kept strictly confidential.

5. Read applicable Enrollment Policies. Please familiarize yourself with our enrollment policies so that you understand how enrollment is conducted for those Letters of Intent that are received prior to the Lottery deadline (January 28, 2020) and those that are received after the Lottery deadline.

If you have any questions about the Enrollment Process, please contact Brigette Mysliwiec, Director of Enrollment, at enrollment@maclarenschool.org or at (719) 313-4488 x127.
